66.73 Per Cent Voting Held In Kanpur Bar Association’s Repoll | Kanpur News

Kanpur: Around 66.73 percent voting took place in Kanpur Bar Association’s repolling held in DAV Degree College under close supervision of police and the district administration on Tuesday.
As per the information released by the elders committee, as many as 3,826 out of 5,733 advocates casted their votes in the one-day polling. According to some senior advocates the figure is encouraging and against all odds.
The repoll held peacefully. The advocate-members walked silently to the polling site and voted in the election.
First time polling for the KBA annual election was held on December 17 which was cancelled following some violence.
The administration deployed retired Army personnel to distribute ballot papers and did not allow anyone to go inside the voting hall except the voters. The administration had asked the contestants to cast their votes in the first half-an-hour and witness the arrangements made there by the administration.
Police raised the barrier near DAV Inter College trisection and allowed only those who were carrying their COP card and Q R code identity slip. Heavy police force was deployed to ward off any trouble. A police control room was set up in front of the entry point and its security was supervised by a deputy commissioner of police, an additional deputy commissioner of police, 8 ACPs, 25 inspectors ,154 sub inspectors and 673 cops and four companies of PAC. The whole area was covered under CCTV.
The elders committee, in presence of the contesting candidates, had sealed all ballot boxes which were later sent to Mahana Hall in KBA building under tight police security.
The counting to begin on Wednesday will continue till the declaration of the last post.The Bar Association has requested the judiciary to accommodate the presence of advocates in the next three days and not pass any adverse order in their cases.
