31 Smart City Projects Worth ₹1,000-cr Passed By Div Commissioner | Kanpur News

Kanpur: The Smart City Corporation Limited in its 14th board meeting passed 31 projects worth around Rs 1,000 crore on Tuesday. During the meeting, it was decided that separate bank account will be opened to operate expenditure for operations and maintenance (O & M) of the projects of Smart city Kanpur after completion. Divisional commissioner, Raj Shekhar, chaired the meeting. He informed that board members approved the proposal to Appoint IIT Kanpur as ‘Technical Support Group’ (TSG) for the ICCC project of Kanpur Smart City for the next 2 years. It will help in ensuring best possible use of facilities available in ICCC and also use of artificial intelligence (AI) in ITMS and traffic management.
Smart city board also cleared the proposal to sign MoU with the ‘Foundation for innovation and research in science & technology (FIRST), a non-profit company of IIT Kanpur for converting ‘non recyclable plastic waste’ (NCPW)into usable furniture and other construction materials, the divisional commissioner stated.
Members of the Kanpur smart city board had also approved the selection of O & M management consultant selected by the smart city by open tender for the operation and management of Palika stadium facilities. Board also directed to set up a committee for supervision of the operation and management of facilities at the stadium . The members also gave in principle approval to take up O&M through private partnership of the visitor gallery, upcoming convention centre, multi level parking at collectorate, vendor kiosk at Motijheel, dadminton court and gym at Green park and upcoming new swimming pool at Nana Rao park once they are completed by Kanpur smart city, he added. The major projects cleared by the board members icluded, development of Bada Chauraha (Rs 3.5 Cr), facial attendance recognition system in Kanpur nagar nigam (amount to be decided in next 15 days), green park visitor gallery (phase 2) (Rs 3.57 Cr), development of badminton and gym hall at Green park (Rs5.5 Cr ), 20 transfer station for solid waste management (Rs 2 Cr), construction of smart road around Chunniganj convention centre (Rs 3 Cr), open gym and parks development in 10 parks (Rs 5 cr), installation of large solar system set up in government buildings in ABD Area (Rs 3.5 cr), development of public places near Anandeshwar temple (Rs 6 Cr), construction and development of 30 smart bus stops (Rs 4 cr, with Public private partnership).
