Kanpur: Around 10 lakh tri-colour will be hoisted to mark the Independence Day celebrations between August 11 and August 17. All government buildings, railway stations, bus stations and crossings will glitter in tri-colour light. Children will take part in the fancy dress competition at cultural programmes to be held in schools. All ghats will be illuminated with tri-colour light during the seven days of Ganga Aarti.
District magistrate Vishakh G in a meeting held here on Saturday gave details about the programmes to be held on the occasion of the 75th year of the country’s independence. The programmes will be held at the houses of the martyrs, their villages and memorials at the tehsil and block level, he said. Besides all nodal officers, chief development officer Mahendra Kumar, ADM (city) Atul Kumar, ADM (L&R) Satyendra Kumar and the ADM (finance and revenue) were present in the meeting.
